Art & About Sydney Open Call

Submit your Art & About Expressions of Interest for the 2016/2017 program now until 5:00 pm (AEST) Thursday, March 3rd, 2016!

A number of projects will be supported, valued between $10,000 – $85,000.

Art & About Sydney is looking for big ideas that temporarily transform public and/or unusual spaces in the city of Sydney Local Government Area (LGA). The committee hopes to engage, involve and inspire Sydneysiders and seeks creative projects that share this aim. This is a continuous program and as such the organization is looking for works that can be realized between July 2016 and June 2017.

Ideas and proposals from all art disciplines are welcome, including but not limited to, visual artists, curators, performers, collectives, filmmakers, musicians, writers, composers, theatre companies, storytellers, producers, choreographers, architects, designers and anyone with a big creative idea that meets their creative brief.

What is Art & About looking for?
Projects and installations in public or unusual places
Artists innovatively rethinking and temporarily reshaping city spaces
Engaging audiences in artistic development and/or the presentation of artworks – this can happen anywhere and at anytime
Anyone who exemplifies artistic excellence

The fund is particularly interested in works that focus on the following:
Participatory and immersive; Site specific/responsive; Storytelling/remixing history; Performance and live music; Street art/murals; Emerging artists and companies building their capacity; Collaborations

Submission requirements including the following:
Contact details
Artist/s team Bio or CVs
Artwork statement (200-250 word max) describing the artwork/project concept
Artist impression/concept drawing of the proposed work/project
An indicative budget
Preferred presentation period between July 2016 – June 2017

Proposals will be evaluated according but not limited to:
Creative approach
Use of public/unusual space
Calibre/experience if artist/s/team
Audience engagement/experience
