Writers Residency in Shanghai
Arthub is making a living studio space available in the heart of Shanghai, both for its local and international guests, including China and Asia-wide writers, poets, scholars and art critics. In this way, the writer in residence will find accommodation in Shanghai, but also in proximity to academic centers, such as the Shanghai Library. The guest writers use their time in Shanghai for their own work and research, but they will also be involved in the city’s literary and cultural life.
Writers participating in the residency must have a specific reason for coming to Shanghai, and either have work in preparation, that has a direct link with China and its current cultural affairs, or its relationship to the rest of Asia. Interest in visual arts, performing arts, urbanism, and inter-disciplinary studies is encouraged.
All residents will be responsible for their own travel and daily expenses. They may be asked to give guest lectures to university students, or various arts audiences, and to write observatory articles in response to Shanghai.
The residency is mainly intended for China and Asia-based writers and authors, but this does not necessarily exclude authors from outside Asia.
